Caveats

Ratio to *trained* teachers specifically (UIS also publishes a pupil-to-qualified-teacher variant, PTRHC.1.QUALIFIED, not curated here), so it is more sensitive to teacher-training-policy changes than a plain headcount pupil-teacher ratio would be. Nepal's early values are genuinely extreme (over 260 pupils per trained teacher around 2000-2002, reflecting how few teachers then held formal training) and fall to a much more typical ~18-24 by the 2020s as training coverage expanded -- the wide plausible_range is intentional, not a data-quality hedge.
