Reconciliation note: Both are FAO Forest Resources Assessment-derived; no overlapping year to compare directly (World Bank holds flat at 41.59% for Nepal 2019-2023, OWID reports 43.71% for 2025), but the levels are consistent with OWID reflecting a newer FRA assessment cycle rather than a data error.
Caveats¶
FAO-sourced, reported roughly every 5 years then held flat between assessments; Nepal is a rare case of forest cover recovery since the 1990s low.
